From the shadows of a failed hemp farm, the Bohemian Cattle Company was envisioned years ago by novice farmers Cameron and Sheila Cane. Cameron grew up having childhood friends with family farms hunting, fishing, and generally raising hell and always dreamed of being able to build his own farm someday.

Fast-forward decades: Cameron and Sheila built and operated one of the largest brewery equipment companies in the nation, which left them little time to devote to the Bohemian Cattle Company. During and after the pandemic, like many people, they realized that there were things in their lives that had to change, so they sold their company and followed their dream of a small cattle ranch with a twist. The twist being that they would not only have a farm that friends and family could enjoy but the community in which they reside could as well.

They developed a farm-to-table restaurant, drinking establishment and event center focused on good times, fun events, family-friendly atmosphere and a place that you come and enjoy as a destination and where you hang out to enjoy the farm and all it offers for the day. With fishing, hiking, gold mining, disc golf and scavenger hunts, we developed a place where you simply hang out on our back porch and join our crew for a day’s worth of fun rather than simply get your food and run. We want our back porch to be yours and you to relish the ability to enjoy our dreams as yours.

Gold Panning

Did you know that the first place that gold was discovered in the United States was in North Carolina? Gold has been an important part of North Carolina’s history since 1799, the year of the first authenticated discovery of gold in the United States. Now you can bring history to a modern-day experience at Bohemian Cattle Co. and share the thrill of finding a flash of “color” in the bottom of your gold pan with family and friends wading in the small stream behind the barn.
Gold fever has struck, and gold panning is now available at Bohemian Cattle Co.

Disc Golf

With North Carolina ranked as one of the top disc golf locations in the country, we have designed a challenging course that weaves through the property with lots of elevation changes for long shots, water holes and weaving through the woods as well. The course will challenge even the best disc golfers around. Come out, and bring your discs, or purchase a starter kit on site, and enjoy playing on Sherrill Ford’s first and only 18-hole disc golf course.

Fishing

Step back to a simpler time with your fishing rod and some blood worms; come do some bank fishing in our catch-and-release private pond for all to enjoy at Bohemian Cattle Co. We’re open to the public for fishing with no fishing license required. To continue that, we are
a catch-and-release pond only, and minnow bait is NOT allowed.

Walk & Bike Trails

Bohemian Cattle Co. offers 64 acres of family fun. Throughout the acreage, there are hiking/walking and biking trails for all to enjoy.
The warm sunshine on your face. The sound of the wind rushing through the trees overhead. Don’t be afraid to lace up your boots and grab a walking stick — or bring your bike for a nature-filled day of biking through the trails of Bohemian Cattle Co. The opportunities and benefits of hiking and biking are waiting for you here at Bohemian Cattle Co.

Activity Field

Bohemian Cattle Co. offers a wide open space for kids and adults alike to enjoy kicking the soccer ball around, playing toss with the football, or playing a good game of tag. Get to know others by asking them to join in your shenanigans. We use our activity field for a variety of activities such as scavenger hunts, adventure races and team-building.

The Back Porch

Enjoy lunch or dinner at The Back Porch, with options of brisket, ribs, steak and seafood (seasonal rotation). Better-than-good sides include baked potatoes, campfire beans, potato salad and mac-n-cheese.

The Creamery

Top off your meal with delicious ice cream from Blue Bunny.

The Bar

Kick back at the bar, and enjoy multiple offerings from local NC breweries and wineries! Our 24-tap system serves rotating local craft beers and wines, including chilled red, white and Prosecco. Don’t worry, kiddos — we have water and soda too.
